Who are we and what do we do?
St. Helens Senior Voice Forum is an organisation which was established to raise the voice and profile of the 50+ age group living in the borough of St. Helens. The Forum’s vision is to promote improved quality of life by empowering older people and their carers to undertake campaigns in order to influence decision makers.
St Helens Senior Voice are recognized and valued for their opinions and experiences concerning health, transport, housing and safety. The Senior Voice Forum gives people the platform to work in partnership with public and private sector in order to secure funding and services which enhance their lives. Ideas have ranged from developing services for the community, educating against age discrimination to ensuring support for more vulnerable citizens.
The Forum has recently contributed to the St Helens Access Plan and St Helens Local Area Agreement to develop and set targets in relation to older people accessing leisure, social and healthcare facilities.
The Forum currently has over 2,000 members. However, since 34% of the St. Helens population is aged 50+, we are keen to expand our membership so that the Senior Voice Forum can be heard even louder with decision-makers.
